Everybody’s
talking about Missing Dave
By HuiMusic.com
What a great name to match a powerful Rock band! Missing
Dave is on everybody’s
lips right now as one of
the top Rock bands in
Hawaii
.
In just about all my
research on the Rock buzz
in
Hawaii
,
Missing Dave always comes
up.
Before I label anything, I have to say
that Missing Dave is a
kick-@$$ Rock band in
their own right. But they
are also known for being a
“chick” band. That
label has become a
commonly used term after
the super-hyped CD
“Jagged Little Pill”
by Alanis Morissette in
1994. Now that artists
like Avril Levine have
pounded onto the scene,
“chick Rock” is the
coined term and it’s got
a cranking following.
The band members are: Daena Dempsey (lead
vocal), Keith Monzen (lead
guitar), Josie Cristobal
(drums), David Letarte
(bass) and Misty Pang
(rhythm guitar).
Missing Dave is everything but missing. They stomp all
over the islands at places
like Bedroq and The Wave.
Constantly gigin’ almost
every weekend, Missing
Dave has created a buzz
not only for original
music, but for
showmanship. There are no
gender lines drawn in the
sand here (which is very
cool). There’s nothing
more that I like seeing
than women who Rock and
belt it out as hard as
they can. Being a Rock
producer both in
Hawaii
and the mainland, I have
seen more bands with
female members that are
just as energetic and
talented as their male
counterparts. “CHICKS
GET PISSED, TOO!!!” said
bass player Shannon, from
the L.A.-based band 23
Link, who I produced a few
months back.
Full-on
stage antics coupled with
hard-core musicianship and
vocals, Missing Dave is
circled in for the kill
and should be one of the
best bands in
Hawaii
.
For some, they’re the
only band that rips.
It’s all about
the fan base/following.
This is something that
doesn’t come overnight.
Yea, great music is the
key, but getting out there
EVERY weekend and playing
is what builds it up.
Missing Dave is a poster
band for the type of
dedication and passion it
takes to scream their way
to the top.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a hold of
the band in time to run
this HuiMusic special
edition for some personal
bytes, but I wanted to
give them their due props.
And the best way for me to
do that is to send you to
their site. They have a
great selection of tracks
for you to play as well as
pics and some campy
“paddle” club fun.
It’s also another
example of a band site
that navigates well.
I look forward to getting a hold of these guys for a
future story and get into
the weave of who they are,
but for now, fire away: www.missingdave.com
