We
Just CHILLAXIN'
More
and more HuiMusic.com
pleased to get emails form
record companies in
Hawai’i that are looking
for ways to do alternative
CD promotions.
On such individual
is Kyle Paredes, the
executive producer of the
new CD released called
“Chillaxin’” by High
Risk.
After a quick hand
shake and Q&A about
what HuiMusic was all
about, we proceeded to the
top of the First Hawaiian
Bank building in town
for a straight talking
lunch.
Through
the course of the
conversation, Kyle was
stumped with the endless
hardships of promoting a
CD in
Hawai’i
.
But the cool thing
is that Kyle just
doesn’t stop where most
do while running in
circles getting radio
rotation and venues to
play at.
Actually, Kyle’s
brother Guy Paredes is the
main man behind the
booking of High Risk
Factor, Kyle is business
player.
Kyle
is going about promoting
Chillaxin’ with “new
school” thinking that
involves more than just
the CD. An
“out of the box
thinker”, Kyle has a
strong promotional program
that involves the strength
of his brother and the
band, High Risk as well as
a super catchy product
trade name and logo. But
it is Kyle’s love for
music that really drives
the passion behind the CD.
“I just love
writing music and being
part of the whole music
scene.
Not for the
potential monetary
rewards, but for shear
enjoyment of creating
music” says Kyle.
The CD Chillaxin’
took about 2 years from
top to bottom and was a
personal journey for Kyle
that taught a few lessons
but yielded a strong
sounding CD that has a
cool “lazy Susanne”
assortment of music.
Chillaxin’
has a host of super
talented lead singers that
gives the CD a solid
production that
compliments clean
songwriting and
musicianship.
But it has been
labeled as a compilation
CD and Kyle says,
“That’s not so”.
I can see where
some might get it as a
compilation CD because of
all the guest lead
singers, but the
production and songwriting
consistence keeps it all
in line and doesn’t come
off as a compilation (my
opinion).
Kyle
also has been successful
in getting radio support
from station across the
state from Hawaiian
Rhythms in
Hilo
to KCCN here in O’ahu.
“Radio has been a
task for me, but all in
all, I’m happy that
there are station on
Chillaxin’ and it’s a
rush to hear songs I wrote
on the radio” says Kyle.
The next thing on
the check list is getting
a hot show schedule for
the summer for Hi Risk
Factor.
Guy
Paredes is a totally
dedicated producer and
musician that has released
CD’s here in
Hawaii
.
Guy has surpassed
his last CD with this one
when it comes to his
production and
arrangements.
The harmony’s of
the vocals and the way the
music flows is a tribute
to Guy’s persistent work
both as a live musician
and a record producer.
But once again,
just my opinion.
Let’s wait to see
what “Honu @ Large”
has to say about it.
Kyle
has his work cut out for
him with the Chillaxin’
CD, but he shows the
aggressive attitude and
foresight that it takes to
be successful in today’s
music bizz.
Along with his
brother Guy and the rest
of Hi Risk Factor, look
for multi merchandising
and great sounding shows
pop’n across the state
up real soon.
