Gritty Fifty Records - The Mixtape!

I was sent a "mixtape" from rap artist Wun a few weeks ago and was stoked at the production. After listening I got a hold of Wun through his MySpace profile and wanted to talk story.

We met in Kapahulu and I got a real cool but coy vibe about him which is also apparent in his music. Wun, who is one of a few artists on his label called Gritty-Fifty records based in Mililani, was born in Hawaii and graduated from Leilehua high school in 2000.

I listened to his latest mixtape and the first thing I noticed was production. Sounds REAL GOOD and the vocals were recorded tight. Next I noticed the style in which Wun performs. It’s a very distinctive sound that gives support to some pretty sic rhymes.

He also has traveled to the east coast to grow his skills and gleam his game. He mentioned that he’s been back for a while and has been concentrating on recording new releases with other artists on Gritty Fifty.

All in all, combining the style of Wun with his rhymes/performance and production quality, Gritty Fifty is well on their way to raising the level of the Urban vibe of Hawaii.

Go check out his tracks on his MySpace profile……
