Jana
Souza’s Bio
It’s
only a matter of time.
This girl has a long list of
credentials in her short singing career.
Time has been on her side since she
was three years old.
She sang for her Mom at a concert in
Vegas, joining the Spice Girls from her
balcony seat, and she never looked back.
It doesn’t matter that she was only
five when she hit the national scene on
posters and signs, after being selected for
a national modeling job with Target stores.
She began to share her love and aloha at a
young age.
In
the years to come, she would engage
audiences all over the state.
When Jana entered her elementary
school’s talent show at the age of 9,
people stood in awe at the notes coming out
of her little frame.
She captivated the hearts of all who
witnessed this child’s maturation into the
world of stage and song.
That year, she was a semi-finalist in
the Kiddie Oki talent search and appeared on
OC16. In
the ensuing months, she sang her way into
the spotlight of the Cinderella Pageant
(winning the talent division), Star Search
finals (runner up to Jasmine Trias) and the
Island Idol winner who would go on to
represent the Bank of Hawaii (BOH) in their
first Island Idol debut.
She would appear at the
Ho’olaulea’s on
Oahu
and the neighbor island competition, and
recorded her prize-winning CD with BOH, Cox
Radio, and American Express as her
promoters.
Jana
has made guest appearances at over 40 events
in a 2 year time period.
Time is on her side.
She continues to strive for
excellence under the tutelage of Yvonne
Iversen, a well-known and established
vocalist.
The instruction given and guidance
shared by Ms. Iversen has helped Jana to
grow in many ways.
It has enhanced not only her voice,
but her love of music and her appreciation
of fine talent, as exemplified by her coach.
Jana’s
roots in professional coaching are close to
home. She
traveled once a week to the studio of
William Dacuioag, in nearby
Waipahu
, to expand on the talent she was blessed
with. After
several years, she continues to promote The
Performing Artist Academy and travels
island-wide to share the groups’ love of
performing.
Mr. Dacuioag notes that “Jana is my
most promising student.”
Not bad for an 11 year old who a few
months ago, stood on stage singing with
Jasmine
Trias
,
Hawaii
’s American Idol.
It’s only a matter of time until
this 11 year old is able to perform
nationally for thousands of fans.
Among
her favorite things to do, besides singing,
are soccer and hanging with her family and
their dogs Shadow and Roxy.
She is an above-average girl with
above-average dreams and goals.
She still fusses over doing homework,
preferring to hum a few notes and write
music. She
has to be reminded to take a bath and wash
the dishes, but never to learn the newest
hits playing on the radio.
It’s
just a matter of time.
Until then, pop in her CD and recall
what you were doing when you were 11
years old.
Time flies and before you know it, it
will be the year 2009.
American Idol will be on at
7pm
and you’ll rush home to watch Jana Souza
perform and vie for the title of American
Idol. She
will be 16 then and eligible to try out.
Maybe she’ll be guest starring on
the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, or maybe she
will already have a national recording
contract with platinum and gold records sold
in the millions.
Maybe.
Time will tell. It’s
all just a matter of time for Jana.
